The company increased its sales in the reporting period by 22.7% to EUR 429.0 million (previous year: EUR 349.7 million). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) adjusted for one-time expenses in connection with the IPO and the acquisitions of Strathmann and Trommsdorff in the amount of EUR 3.8 million rose by 28.3% to EUR 106.4 million (prior-year period: EUR 82.9 million). This resulted in an adjusted EBITDA margin of 24.8%, 1.2 percentage points above the margin of the previous year. Unadjusted EBITDA amounted to EUR 102.6 million and the unadjusted EBITDA margin was 23.9%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hans-Georg Feldmeier, CEO of Dermapharm Holding SE, comments: \u201cIn the first nine months of 2018, we continued our positive business development, including our successful admission to the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the integration of recent acquisitions as well as the successful introduction of in-house developments. The acquisitions we made enabled us to further strengthen our business model and lay the foundation for continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both the \u201cBranded Pharmaceuticals and Other Healthcare Products\u201d segment and the \u201cParallel Import Business\u201d segment contributed to this successful development. The acquisitions of Strathmann and Trommsdorff and additional products such as Myopridin\u00ae, Keltican\u00ae and Tromcardin\u00ae enabled Dermapharm to ideally complement its portfolio. The company\u2019s broad positioning enables it to further reduce its dependence on direct health insurance discounts and significantly increase the share of products in the self-pay segment in select niche markets. Dermapharm was also able to gain market share in the new therapeutic area of pain treatment. In addition, Dermapharm succeeded in strengthening its position in the domestic market for the hyperthermal medical products bite away\u00ae and Herpotherm\u00ae by expanding into the pharmacy market and gaining contractual partners in Northern, Eastern and Central Europe. Dermapharm now plans to sell these products in the UK, Western Europe, Asia and the United States. Dermapharm\u2019s comprehensive three-pillar strategy of in-house product development, internationalization and targeted M&amp;A activities continues to bear fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Sales in the \u201cBranded Pharmaceuticals and Other Healthcare Products\u201d segment increased by 52.5% to EUR 249.5 million (previous year: EUR 163.6 million). The segment\u2019s reported EBITDA increased by 26.5% to EUR 98.3 million (prior-year period: EUR 77.7 million). This increase was mainly due to the positive development of gross profit along with reducing expenses for discounts from direct contracts with health insurance funds and reducing the cost of materials ratio. The acquisitions of the Strathmann Group (January 1, 2018) and the Trommsdorff Group (February 1, 2018) were included in the consolidation of this business segment for the first time. As a result of the adjustment for one-time expenses in connection with the IPO and the two acquisitions, the segment\u2019s adjusted EBITDA margin of 40.9% was below the corresponding prior-year figure of 47.5%.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cParallel Import Business\u201d segment, revenue decreased by 3.6% to EUR 179.5 million in the reporting period (previous year: EUR 186.1 million). This decline was mainly due to the concentration on high-margin, small-volume preparations. With this selective approach, EBITDA in the parallel import business increased significantly by 51.6% to EUR 7.8 million in the first nine months of the year (previous year: EUR 5.2 million). Dermapharm increased its EBITDA margin in this segment from 2.8% in the same period of the previous year to 4.4% through the optimization of the product portfolio, the increase in the gross profit margin through demand-oriented purchasing and continuous cost optimization through the in-house relocation of the business with reimported narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>The Management Board confirms its forecast for fiscal year 2018 in light of the strategic orientation in the \u201cBranded Pharmaceuticals and Other Healthcare Products\u201d segment, the consistent implementation of the three-pillar strategy, the continuing stable legal situation and a steadily growing importable pharmaceutical market. Das Unternehmen konnte den Umsatz im Berichtszeitraum um 22,7% auf 429,0 Mio. \u20ac steigern (Vorjahreszeitraum: 349,7 Mio. \u20ac). Zugleich erh\u00f6hte sich das um Einmalkosten im Zusammenhang mit der B\u00f6rsennotierung und den Akquisitionen von Strathmann und Trommsdorff in H\u00f6he von 3,8 Mio. \u20ac bereinigte Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) um 28,3% auf 106,4 Mio. \u20ac (Vorjahreszeitraum: 82,9 Mio. \u20ac). Die bereinigte EBITDA-Marge lag entsprechend bei 24,8% und damit 1,2 Prozentpunkte \u00fcber der Marge des Vorjahres. Durch ihre breite Aufstellung kann Dermapharm die Abh\u00e4ngigkeit von direkten Krankenkassen-Rabatten weiter verringern und den Anteil von Produkten im Bereich der Selbstzahler in selektieren Nischenm\u00e4rkten deutlich vergr\u00f6\u00dfern. Zudem konnte Dermapharm damit Marktanteile im neuen Therapiegebiet Schmerzbehandlung gewinnen. Des Weiteren ist es Dermapharm gelungen, f\u00fcr die hyperthermischen Medizinprodukte bite away\u00ae und Herpotherm\u00ae die Position im Heimatmarkt durch Ausweitung auf den Apothekenmarkt zu st\u00e4rken und Vertragspartner in Nord-, Ost- und Mitteleuropa zu gewinnen. Im n\u00e4chsten Schritt plant Dermapharm, diese Produkte auch in UK, Westeuropa, Asien und Amerika zu vertreiben. Insgesamt tr\u00e4gt die von Dermapharm verfolgte Drei-S\u00e4ulen-Strategie aus eigener Produktentwicklung, Internationalisierung und gezielten M&A Aktivit\u00e4ten somit weiterhin Fr\u00fcchte.\r\n\r\nDer Umsatz im Segment \u201eMarkenarzneimittel und andere Gesundheitsprodukte\u201c konnte um 52,5 % auf 249,5 Mio. \u20ac (Vorjahreszeitraum: 163,6 Mio. \u20ac) gesteigert werden. Somit erh\u00f6hte sich das ausgewiesene EBITDA des Segments um 26,5% auf 98,3 Mio. \u20ac (Vorjahreszeitraum: 77,7 Mio. \u20ac). Diese Steigerung basierte ma\u00dfgeblich auf der positiven Entwicklung des Rohertrags bei gleichzeitiger Senkung der Aufwendungen f\u00fcr Rabatte aus Direktvertr\u00e4gen mit Krankenkassen und der Reduktion der Materialkosten-Ratio. Zudem wurden die Akquisitionen der Strathmann-Gruppe (1. Januar 2018) sowie der Trommsdorff-Gruppe (1. Februar 2018) erstmalig in die Konsolidierung dieses Unternehmenssegmentes mit einbezogen. Bedingt durch die Bereinigung von Einmalkosten im Zusammenhang mit dem B\u00f6rsengang und den beiden Akquisitionen lag die bereinigte EBITDA-Marge des Segments mit 40,9% unter dem entsprechenden Vorjahreswert von 47,5%.\r\n\r\nIm Segment \u201eParallelimportgesch\u00e4ft\u201c verringerte sich der Umsatz im Berichtszeitraum um 3,6% auf 179,5 Mio. \u20ac (Vorjahreszeitraum: 186,1 Mio. \u20ac). Dieser R\u00fcckgang resultierte im Wesentlichen aus der Konzentration auf margenstarke, jedoch kleinvolumige Pr\u00e4parate. Mit der selektiven Vorgehensweise konnte das EBITDA im Parallelimportgesch\u00e4ft in den ersten neun Monaten signifikant um 51,6 % auf 7,8 Mio. \u20ac (Vorjahreszeitraum: 5,2 Mio. \u20ac) gesteigert werden. Dermapharm hat durch die Optimierung des Produktportfolios, die Steigerung der Rohertragsmarge durch einen bedarfsgerechten Einkauf sowie eine stetige Kostenoptimierung durch die Inhouse-Verlagerung des Gesch\u00e4fts mit reimportierten Bet\u00e4ubungsmitteln die EBITDA-Marge in diesem Segment von 2,8% im Vorjahreszeitraum auf 4,4% erh\u00f6ht.\r\n\r\nAngesichts der strategischen Ausrichtung im Segment \u201eMarkenarzneimittel und andere Gesundheitsprodukte\u201c, der konsequenten Umsetzung der Drei-S\u00e4ulen-Strategie sowie der anhaltend stabilen gesetzlichen Lage und einem stetig wachsenden importf\u00e4higen Pharmamarkt best\u00e4tigt der Vorstand seine Prognose f\u00fcr das Gesch\u00e4ftsjahr 2018. Der Vorstand geht somit f\u00fcr 2018 im Vergleich zum Vorjahr nach wie vor von einem weiteren Konzernwachstum aus.
