Up to April of this year Manz CIGS Technology GmbH operated as an independent research company in the field of CIGS thin-film solar technology within Manz AG. One of the measures decided upon last November by Manz and its Chinese partners Shanghai Electric Group and Shenhua Group as part of a strategic cooperation deal was the setting up of a joint research company. The agreement specified that Manz&#8217;s research company would be incorporated into the new company. The corresponding contracts were signed by the participating partners in January this year. The agreement also included orders totaling EUR 263 million placed at Manz AG. The transaction was subject to the approval of the Chinese authorities which was granted in the middle of April. Since all closing conditions have thus been fulfilled, Manz CIGS Technology GmbH was incorporated into the newly created company, NICE PV Research Ltd. In return, Shanghai Electric and Shenhua undertook to pay a purchase price of EUR 50 million, which Manz AG has now received.<\/p>\n<p>The setting up of the new joint venture lays the foundation for a unique research company as the world&#8217;s leading research institution in the field of CIGS thin-film technology. NICE PV Research started its research operations as planned in April. The aim of the joint venture is to speed up the development of CIGS technology in order to leverage potential for a further increase in photovoltaic efficiency and further reductions in manufacturing costs.<\/p>\n<p>The finalizing of this transaction means that Manz will shortly start to work on the major orders that have been placed with it. EUR f\u00fcr Manz CIGS Technology GmbH<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Start der Bearbeitung der Anfang des Jahres akquirierten Gro\u00dfauftr\u00e4ge steht unmittelbar bevor<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nDie Manz AG, weltweit agierender Hightech-Maschinenbauer mit umfassendem Technologieportfolio in den Gesch\u00e4ftsbereichen \u201eSolar\u201c, \u201eElectronics\u201c und \u201eEnergy Storage\u201c, hat den Kaufpreis \u00fcber 50 Mio. EUR f\u00fcr sein Tochterunternehmen Manz CIGS Technology GmbH erhalten. Die Manz CIGS Technology GmbH agierte bis zum April dieses Jahres als eigenst\u00e4ndige Forschungsgesellschaft im Bereich der CIGS-D\u00fcnnschicht-Solartechnologie innerhalb der Manz AG. Im Zuge einer strategischen Zusammenarbeit hatte Manz mit seinen chinesischen Partnern Shanghai Electric Group und Shenhua Group im November vergangenen Jahres unter anderem die Gr\u00fcndung eines gemeinschaftlichen Forschungsunternehmens beschlossen. Bestandteil der Vereinbarung war, dass die Manz-Forschungsgesellschaft in das neue Unternehmen eingebracht wird. Die Vertr\u00e4ge hierzu wurden im Januar dieses Jahres von den beteiligten Partnern unterzeichnet. Weiterer Gegenstand der Vereinbarung waren zudem Auftr\u00e4ge mit einem Gesamtvolumen von 263 Mio. EUR an die Manz AG. Die gesamte Transaktion stand zun\u00e4chst unter dem Vorbehalt der Genehmigung der chinesischen Beh\u00f6rden. Nachdem diese Mitte April vorlag und damit alle Vollzugsbedingungen erf\u00fcllt waren, ist die Manz CIGS Technology GmbH in die neu gegr\u00fcndete NICE PV Research Ltd. eingebracht worden. Im Gegenzug haben sich Shanghai Electric und Shenhua dazu verpflichtet, einen Kaufpreis in H\u00f6he von 50 Mio. EUR zu zahlen, den die Manz AG nunmehr erhalten hat.\r\n\r\nMit dem neuen Gemeinschaftsunternehmen ist die Grundlage f\u00fcr eine einzigartige Unternehmung als weltweit f\u00fchrende Forschungseinrichtung im Bereich der CIGS-D\u00fcnnschicht-Technologie gelegt worden. NICE PV Research hat seit April planm\u00e4\u00dfig den Forschungsbetrieb aufgenommen. Ziel des Joint-Ventures ist, die Weiterentwicklung der CIGS-Technologie zu beschleunigen, um damit Potenziale f\u00fcr eine weitere Steigerung des Wirkungsgrades zu heben und die Herstellungskosten weiter zu senken.\r\n\r\nMit dem Abschluss dieser Transaktion steht bei Manz nun der Start der Bearbeitung der erteilten Gro\u00dfauftr\u00e4ge unmittelbar bevor. Die daf\u00fcr vereinbarte Anzahlung in H\u00f6he von 79 Mio.
