Together with 2006, it was the warmest September to date since geographically comprehensive records began in 1881. Summer returned to the whole of Germany between September 9th and 15th. Warm days with temperatures even above 30 Celsius (\u00b0C) were often observed. After a cooler phase, temperatures during the last third of the month climbed again to summer-like temperatures of 25 \u00b0C and above in some areas. (Source: German Weather Service \/ Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD)<\/p>\n<p>Given these conditions, the replacement tyres business in the third quarter in Germany failed to benefit from an early start to the winter season. Many motorists did not become directly aware of the need for new winter tyres until October when sustained cold temperatures set in and road conditions became more difficult. In September 2015, by contrast, ground temperatures had already fallen to persistently below the 7\u00b0C level from mid-month in many locations, prompting various motorists to refit winter tyres to their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Market experts estimate that 20 % fewer winter tyres were in demand in German tyre retailing in September than in the previous year&#8217;s month, so that cumulative winter tyre sales were down 5 % during the first nine months of the year. For the summer tyres business, initial preliminary estimates following a weak first half-year with an almost 10 % reduction in shipments also indicate year-on-year lower unit sales to domestic consumers in the third quarter. The decrease in the summer tyre business was mitigated by higher demand for all season tyres. For passenger car summer tyres, including all season tyres, experts estimate shipments in Germany between January and September 5 % lower than in the equivalent 2015 period. It is assumed that the car replacement tyres business in German tyre retailing was down almost 5 % year-on-year in volume terms during the first nine months.<\/p>\n<p>Business performance and earnings situation<br \/>\nDuring the first nine months of the current financial year, the Delticom Group achieved revenues of \u20ac 393 million, an increase of 11 % compared with the previous year (9M 15: \u20ac 354 million).<\/p>\n<p>More than 780 thousand new customers made first-time purchases at one of Delticom online shops in the first nine months of 2016, reflecting an increase of more than 60 thousand new customers (9M 15: 717 thousand). Moreover, the company recorded repeat sales to almost 670 thousand existing customers (9M 15: 643 thousand, +4 %), with its extensive product and service offering thereby proving persuasive.<\/p>\n<p>Gross profit amounted to \u20ac 104 million in 9M 16 (9M 15: \u20ac 97 million, + 7 %), equivalent to a 26 % margin on total operating income (9M 15: 27 %).<\/p>\n<p>In the third quarter, the company advanced its unit sales faster than revenues. Not least, this success came along with various marketing measures highlighting the early buyer offer in Delticom online shops. The foundations were also laid in Q3 16 for the planned and now-emerging revenues growth in the final quarter. Due to marketing expenses incurred in advance and price effects, EBITDA for the first nine months of 2016 was lower than in the corresponding 2015 period. As a transition quarter between the summer and winter business, Q3 earnings trend is only of comparatively minor importance for full-year profitability. The same holds true for the first quarter of a year. Weather-related shift effects are not unusual in the tyres business. Making statements with any certainty about the progress of the season is generally only possible after the respective seasonal peak has been reached. Delticom will provide detailed information about the course of its winter business, and accordingly about its full-year results, with the presentation of its annual report. The seasonal trends and results of the summer business will be presented in detail in the half-year report.<\/p>\n<p>Financial position<br \/>\nInventories comprise the largest item among current assets. Standing at \u20ac 98 million on the reporting date, they were almost at the previous year&#8217;s level (30.09.2015: \u20ac 100 million, 31.12.2015: \u20ac 62 million).<\/p>\n<p>Trade receivables amounted to \u20ac 28 million at the end of the past quarter (30.09.2015: \u20ac 26 million, 31.12.2015: \u20ac 19 million).<\/p>\n<p>Comparing balance sheet dates, trade payables rose from \u20ac 110 million on 30.09.2015 to \u20ac 120 million as of 30.09.2016 due to closing-date effects (31.12.2015: \u20ac 78 million).<\/p>\n<p>Liquidity (cash and cash equivalents plus liquidity reserve) stood at \u20ac 7 million as of the quarter-end (30.09.2015: \u20ac 23 million, 31.12.2015: \u20ac 12 million). Net liquidity amounted to \u20ac -15 million on the reporting date (30.09.2015: \u20ac 10 million, 31.12.2015: \u20ac 7 million). The company utilizes the credit lines at its disposal for the intra-year financing of its stockbuilding. These credit lines were repaid in full in mid-October. At seasonal peaks, we deploy current and low-risk money market instruments for operating activities.<\/p>\n<p>Balance sheet total stood at \u20ac 223 million as of 30.09.2016 (30.09.2015: \u20ac 215 million, 31.12.2015: \u20ac 160 million). During the course of the third quarter, the purchase price allocation for the food companies acquired in February this year was finalized. The food goodwill amounts to \u20ac 1.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth-quarter business<br \/>\nOctober was the first abnormally cold month in 2016 in Germany. The average temperature of 8.6 \u00b0C was 0.4 \u00b0C below the internationally relevant reference period of 1961 to 1990. The deviation amounted to -0.6 \u00b0C compared with the warmer period between 1981 and 2010. The transition from warm Indian summer weather to unpleasantly cool autumn weather was already evident in early October. On October 1, for example, Dresden-Strehlen recorded Germany&#8217;s highest temperature of 24.7 \u00b0C. Just two days later, the thermometers there registered a chilly level of just 13.7 \u00b0C. During the final days of the first half of the month, temperatures in some parts of Germany plunged to nighttime frost levels under the impact of the unusually strong high-pressure area in Scandinavia (the &#8220;Peter&#8221;): on October 13, the DWD recorded -4.9 \u00b0C in Oberstdorf, the lowest figure for October across the whole of Germany. In the afternoon of October 24, by contrast, Oberstdorf registered a summer-like 23.1 \u00b0C with assistance from the alpine &#8220;f\u00f6hn&#8221; wind. (Source: DWD)<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth quarter of the previous year, winter business had already reached its seasonal high by mid-October, due to the uncommonly early onset of winter, with snowfalls well into lower altitudes. For 2016, it is currently assumed that winter tyre shipments in German tyre retailing are down by more than 10 % year on year during the first ten months. Despite the lack of stimulus from snow, shipments and revenues of the Delticom Group in October are up on the previous year&#8217;s month, as well as EBITDA. The management assumes that the company will continue to achieve good revenues and earnings in the weeks remaining until the year-end.<\/p>\n<p>Full-year outlook<\/p>\n<p>The fourth quarter plays a central role in terms of revenues and earnings for the full-year. This is true not only for the tyres business, but also for efood and logistics due to pre-Christmas business.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the year-on-year delayed start to the winter tyres business, the management continues to expect to reach consolidated revenues of between \u20ac 620-630 million and group EBITDA of \u20ac 16 million in the current financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Company profile:<\/p>\n<p>Delticom is Europe&#8217;s leading online retailer of tyres and automotive accessories. Zusammen mit 2006 war es der bisher w\u00e4rmste Septembermonat seit dem Beginn der fl\u00e4chendeckenden Messung im Jahr 1881. Zwischen dem 9. und 15. September kehrte deutschlandweit der Sommer zur\u00fcck. Oft wurden sogar hei\u00dfe Tage mit Temperaturen \u00fcber 30 Grad Celsius (\u00b0C) beobachtet. Nach einer k\u00fchleren Phase kletterten die Temperaturen im letzten Monatsdrittel erneut auf gebietsweise sommerliche Temperaturen von 25 \u00b0C und mehr. (Quelle: Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD)\r\n\r\nVor diesem Hintergrund profitierte das Ersatzreifengesch\u00e4ft im dritten Quartal hierzulande nicht von einem fr\u00fchen Start in die Wintersaison. Erst mit anhaltend kalten Temperaturen und schwieriger werdenden Stra\u00dfenverh\u00e4ltnissen wurde im Oktober vielen Autofahrern die Notwendigkeit neuer Winterreifen ganz direkt bewusst. Im September 2015 waren die Bodentemperaturen bereits ab Monatsmitte vielerorts anhaltend unter die 7 Grad Celsius-Marke gefallen. Dies hatte den einen oder anderen Autofahrer fr\u00fchzeitig zu einer Umr\u00fcstung des Fahrzeugs auf Winterreifen veranlasst.\r\n\r\nMarktexperten gehen davon aus, dass im deutschen Reifenhandel im September 20 % weniger Winterreifen nachgefragt wurden als im entsprechenden Vorjahresmonat, sodass der kumulierte Winterreifenabsatz in den ersten neun Monaten um 5 % zur\u00fcckliegt. F\u00fcr das Sommerreifengesch\u00e4ft indizieren erste vorl\u00e4ufige Sch\u00e4tzungen nach einem schwachen ersten Halbjahr mit einem Absatzr\u00fcckgang um knapp 10 % auch f\u00fcr das dritte Quartal einen gegen\u00fcber Vorjahr geringeren St\u00fcckabsatz an die heimischen Verbraucher. Abgeschw\u00e4cht wurde der R\u00fcckgang im Gesch\u00e4ft mit Sommerreifen durch eine h\u00f6here Nachfrage nach Ganzjahresreifen. F\u00fcr PKW-Sommerreifen inklusive Ganzjahresreifen sch\u00e4tzen Experten den Absatz von Januar bis September hierzulande um 5% niedriger ein als im Vergleichszeitraum 2015. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass das PKW-Ersatzreifengesch\u00e4ft im deutschen Reifenhandel volumenseitig in den ersten neun Monaten insgesamt knapp 5 % hinter dem Vorjahr zur\u00fcckliegt.\r\n\r\n<strong>Gesch\u00e4ftsverlauf und Ertragslage<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDie Delticom-Gruppe erzielte in den ersten neun Monaten des laufenden Gesch\u00e4ftsjahres einen Umsatz von 393 Mio. \u20ac, ein Anstieg um 11 % gegen\u00fcber dem Vorjahr (9M 15: 354 Mio. \u20ac).\r\n\r\nIn den ersten neun Monaten 2016 haben mehr als 780 Tausend Neukunden erstmalig in einem der Delticom-Onlineshops eingekauft, ein Zuwachs von mehr als 60 Tsd. Neukunden (9M 15: 717 Tausend). Zudem konnte die Gesellschaft knapp 670 Tausend Bestandskunden (9M 15: 643 Tausend, +4 %) erneut von ihrem umfassenden Produkt- und Serviceangebot \u00fcberzeugen.\r\n\r\nDer Rohertrag belief sich in 9M 16 auf 104 Mio. \u20ac (9M 15: 97 Mio. \u20ac, +7 %). Im Verh\u00e4ltnis zur Gesamtleistung betrug der Rohertrag 26 % (9M 15: 27 %).\r\n\r\nDie Gesellschaft hat den Absatz in St\u00fcck im dritten Quartal st\u00e4rker gesteigert als den Umsatz. Dieser Erfolg geht nicht zuletzt mit verschiedenen Marketingma\u00dfnahmen einher, mit denen auf das Fr\u00fchk\u00e4ufer-Angebot in den Delticom-Onlineshops aufmerksam gemacht wurde. Gleichzeitig wurden im Q3 16 die Grundlagen f\u00fcr das geplante und sich jetzt abzeichnende Umsatzwachstum im Schlussquartal geschaffen. Aufgrund vorgezogener Marketingaufwendungen und der Preiseffekte, f\u00e4llt das EBITDA f\u00fcr die ersten neun Monate 2016 niedriger aus als im entsprechenden Vergleichszeitraum 2015. Als \u00dcbergangsquartal zwischen dem Sommer- und dem Wintergesch\u00e4ft ist die Ergebnisentwicklung im Q3 f\u00fcr die Profitabilit\u00e4t im Gesamtjahr nur von vergleichsweise geringer Bedeutung. Gleiches gilt f\u00fcr das erste Quartal eines Jahres. Wetterbedingte Verschiebungseffekte sind im Reifenhandel nicht un\u00fcblich. Gesicherte Aussagen \u00fcber den Saisonverlauf sind grunds\u00e4tzlich erst nach Erreichen der jeweiligen Saisonspitze m\u00f6glich. Delticom wird \u00fcber den Verlauf des Wintergesch\u00e4fts und dementsprechend \u00fcber den Erfolg im Gesamtjahr ausf\u00fchrlich mit Vorlage des Gesch\u00e4ftsberichts informieren. Saisonverlauf und Ergebnis des Sommergesch\u00e4fts werden detailliert im Halbjahresbericht dargestellt.\r\n\r\n<strong>Finanz- und Verm\u00f6genslage<\/strong>\r\n\r\nGr\u00f6\u00dfte Position im kurzfristig gebunden Verm\u00f6gen sind die Vorr\u00e4te. Sie beliefen sich zum Stichtag 30.09.2016 mit 98 Mio. \u20ac nahezu auf Vorjahresniveau (30.09.2015: 100 Mio. \u20ac, 31.12.2015: 62 Mio. \u20ac).\r\n\r\nDie Forderungen aus Lieferungen und Leistungen betrugen am Ende des zur\u00fcckliegenden Quartals 28 Mio. \u20ac (30.09.2015: 26 Mio. \u20ac, 31.12.2015: 19 Mio. \u20ac).\r\n\r\nIm Stichtagsvergleich erh\u00f6hten sich die Verbindlichkeiten aus Lieferungen und Leistungen aufgrund stichtagsbedingter Verschiebungseffekte von 110 Mio. \u20ac am 30.9.2015 auf 120 Mio. \u20ac zum 30.9.2016 (31.12.2015: 78 Mio. \u20ac).\r\n\r\nDie Liquidit\u00e4t (fl\u00fcssige Mittel und Liquidit\u00e4tsreserve) belief sich zum Quartalsende auf 7 Mio. \u20ac (30.09.2015: 23 Mio. \u20ac, 31.12.2015: 12 Mio. \u20ac). Zum Abschlussstichtag betrug die Netto-Liquidit\u00e4t (Liquidit\u00e4t abz\u00fcglich kurzfristiger Finanzschulden) -15 Mio. \u20ac (30.09.2015: 10 Mio. \u20ac, 31.12.2015: 7 Mio. \u20ac). Die Gesellschaft nimmt zur unterj\u00e4hrigen Finanzierung des Bestandsaufbaus einger\u00e4umte Kreditlinien in Anspruch. Diese wurden Mitte Oktober vollst\u00e4ndig zur\u00fcckgef\u00fchrt. Zu den Saisonspitzen nutzen wir f\u00fcr das laufende Gesch\u00e4ft kurzfristige und risikoarme Geldmarktinstrumente.\r\n\r\nZum Stichtag 30.09.2016 betrug die Bilanzsumme 223 Mio. \u20ac (30.09.2015: 215 Mio. \u20ac, 31.12.2015: 160 Mio. \u20ac). Im Verlauf des dritten Quartals wurde die Kaufpreisallokation f\u00fcr die im Februar des laufenden Jahres erworbenen Food-Gesellschaften finalisiert. Der Food-Goodwill bel\u00e4uft sich auf 1,1 Mio. \u20ac.\r\n\r\n<strong>Das Gesch\u00e4ft im vierten Quartal<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDer Oktober war in Deutschland der erste zu kalte Monat im Jahr 2016. Die Durchschnittstemperatur lag mit 8,6 \u00b0C um 0,4 Grad unter der international g\u00fcltigen Referenzperiode 1961 bis 1990. Im Vergleich zur w\u00e4rmeren Periode 1981 bis 2010 betrug die Abweichung -0,6 Grad. Der \u00dcbergang vom warmen Altweibersommerwetter in ungem\u00fctlich k\u00fchles Herbstwetter war bereits Anfang Oktober zu sp\u00fcren. So datierte beispielsweise Dresden-Strehlen am 01.10. den deutschlandweiten H\u00f6chstwert mit 24,7 \u00b0C; bereits zwei Tage sp\u00e4ter zeigte das Quecksilber dort nur noch k\u00fchle 13,7 \u00b0C. In den letzten Tagen der ersten Monatsh\u00e4lfte sanken die Temperaturen in Deutschland unter dem Einfluss des ungew\u00f6hnlich starken Skandinavienhochs \"Peter\" nachts gebietsweise in den Frostbereich: Am 13.10. registrierte der DWD in Oberstdorf -4,9 \u00b0C und damit den bundesweit tiefsten Oktoberwert. Am Nachmittag des 24.10. meldete Oberstdorf dagegen mit Unterst\u00fctzung des F\u00f6hns eher sommerliche 23,1 \u00b0C. (Quelle: DWD)\r\n\r\nIm vierten Quartal des Vorjahres hatte das Wintergesch\u00e4ft bereits Mitte Oktober seinen saisonalen H\u00f6hepunkt erreicht, bedingt durch den ungew\u00f6hnlich fr\u00fchen Wintereinbruch mit Schneef\u00e4llen bis in die tiefen Lagen. F\u00fcr 2016 wird aktuell davon ausgegangen, dass der Winterreifenabsatz im deutschen Reifenhandel nach Ablauf der ersten zehn Monate um mehr als 10 % hinter dem Vorjahr zur\u00fcckliegt. Trotz des ausgebliebenen Stimulus Schnee, liegen im Oktober die Abverk\u00e4ufe und Ums\u00e4tze der Delticom-Gruppe \u00fcber Vorjahr, ebenso das EBITDA. Das Management geht davon aus, dass die Gesellschaft auch in den verbleibenden Wochen bis Jahresende gute Ums\u00e4tze und Ergebnisse erzielen wird.\r\n\r\n<strong>Gesamtjahresprognose<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDem vierten Quartal kommt hinsichtlich Umsatz und Ergebnis im Gesamtjahr eine zentrale Rolle zu. Dies gilt sowohl f\u00fcr das Reifengesch\u00e4ft als auch f\u00fcr efood und Logistik aufgrund des Vorweihnachtsgesch\u00e4fts.\r\n\r\nTrotz des im Vorjahresvergleichs versp\u00e4teten Starts in das Winterreifengesch\u00e4ft rechnet das Management unver\u00e4ndert damit, auf Gesamtjahressicht einen Konzernumsatz von 620-630 Mio. \u20ac und ein EBITDA von 16 Mio. \u20ac erreichen zu k\u00f6nnen.\r\n\r\n<strong>Unternehmensprofil:<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDelticom ist Europas f\u00fchrender Onlineh\u00e4ndler f\u00fcr Reifen und Autozubeh\u00f6r.
