The company confirms its positive overall development in 2017, considerably increasing both revenue as well as earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) compared to the previous year. Revenue rose by 40.7 % to a record level of 325.0 million euros (previous year: 231.0 million euros) while EBIT climbed by 37.5 million euros to 1.6 million euros (previous year: -35.9 million euros), including a one-off effect in the Solar segment from the sale of Manz CIGS Technology GmbH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2017, we initiated numerous measures aimed at making the company durably profitable once again,\u201d notes Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass, Chief Executive Officer of Manz AG. \u201cThrough targeted organizational and process improvements, we have succeeded in increasing the company&#8217;s competitiveness and profitability. Further evidence that these measures are taking effect was also reflected in the final quarter, which saw a revenue volume of around 132 million euros and positive EBIT. With this, we have established the basis for ensuring stable and profit-oriented growth for the company across all our business segments.\u201d Moreover, the product portfolio has gradually been expanded since mid of 2017 with the addition of standardized stand-alone machines and modules. This will contribute to broaden the customer base and to further stabilizing business development.<br \/>\nManz AG will continue to pursue this course in 2018 as well. The Managing Board sees considerable potential for sustainably improving the company\u2019s earnings by implementing further organizational improvements through the optimization program Manz 2.0. This includes measures such as removing parallel organizational structures, minimizing the number of interfaces, and reducing overheads. The fusion of the previously independent business areas Display and Printed Circuit Boards in Asia as of February 1, 2018, was an important step towards this aim. The implementation of the large-scale CIGS orders in the Solar segment is also progressing according to plan. In the segments Energy Storage and Electronics, the volume of incoming orders has greatly exceeded the figures from the previous year, also in line with expectations.<br \/>\n\u201cAt the end of 2017, we achieved an order volume of 222.0 million euros,\u201d adds Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass. \u201cThe intensity of inquiries from the industry is further growing and the amount of incoming orders in 2018 has been developing well. Moreover, as of December 31, 2017, we possess liquid funds amounting to 72 million euros, as well as not fully utilized credit lines of nearly 21 million euros. That means we have plenty of financial resources to implement the measures planned for achieving sustained profitability. With these considerations in mind, we expect to see a significant increase in revenue, as well as slightly positive operating EBIT this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In comparison to 2017, the Managing Board expects an increase in revenue of between 10 and 14 % and a slightly positive EBIT, without any one-off effects. This would amount to an improvement in operating earnings of around 30 million euros. Revenue is expected to increase across all business segments. Due to the continued high research and development expenses for further expanding the product portfolio, as well as investments in market cultivation, the segments Electronics and Energy Storage are not expected to make a positive contribution to the Group&#8217;s EBIT until 2019. Darin best\u00e4tigt das Unternehmen die insgesamt positive Entwicklung f\u00fcr das vergangene Jahr. So konnten sowohl der Umsatz als auch das Ergebnis vor Zinsen und Steuern (EBIT) gegen\u00fcber dem Vorjahr deutlich verbessert werden. Der Umsatz stieg um 40,7 % auf ein Rekordniveau von 325,0 Mio. EUR (Vorjahr: 231,0 Mio. EUR), das EBIT erh\u00f6hte sich inklusive eines Solar-Sondereffekts aus dem Verkauf der Manz CIGS Technology GmbH um 37,5 Mio. EUR auf 1,6 Mio. EUR (Vorjahr: -35,9 Mio. EUR).<\/p><p>Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Manz AG, kommentiert: \u201e2017 haben wir zahlreiche Ma\u00dfnahmen auf den Weg gebracht, um wieder dauerhaft profitabel zu sein. Durch gezielte Organisations- und Prozessverbesserungen ist es uns gelungen, die Wettbewerbs- und Renditef\u00e4higkeit des Unternehmens zu steigern. Dass die eingeleiteten Ma\u00dfnahmen greifen, zeigt auch das Schlussquartal mit einem Umsatzbeitrag von rund 132 Mio. EUR und einem positiven EBIT. Damit haben wir das Fundament geschaffen, um das Unternehmen auf stabiles und ertragsorientiertes Wachstum in allen Gesch\u00e4ftsbereichen auszurichten.\u201c Zudem wurde das Produktportfolio seit Mitte 2017 um standardisierte Einzelmaschinen und Module sukzessive erweitert. Dies wird zur Ausweitung der Kundenbasis sowie zur weiteren Stabilisierung der Gesch\u00e4ftsentwicklung beitragen.<br \/>Den eingeschlagenen Kurs wird die Manz AG 2018 weiter fortsetzen. Der Vorstand sieht insbesondere in weiteren organisatorischen Verbesserungen im Rahmen des Optimierungsprogramms Manz 2.0, wie etwa dem Abbau von Parallelstrukturen, der Verringerung von Schnittstellen oder einer Verschlankung des Overheads, deutliche Potenziale f\u00fcr eine nachhaltige Ergebnissteigerung. Die Zusammenlegung der bislang selbstst\u00e4ndigen Gesch\u00e4ftseinheiten Display und Leiterplatten in Asien zum 1. Februar 2018 war diesbez\u00fcglich ein wichtiger Schritt. Auch die Umsetzung der CIGS-Gro\u00dfauftr\u00e4ge im Segment Solar l\u00e4uft weiterhin nach Plan. In den Segmenten Energy Storage und Electronics entwickelt sich der Auftragseingang gem\u00e4\u00df den Erwartungen deutlich \u00fcber den Vorjahreswerten.<br \/>Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass erg\u00e4nzt: \u201eZum Jahresende 2017 weisen wir einen Auftragsbestand von 222,0 Mio. EUR aus, die Anfrageintensit\u00e4t aus der Industrie nimmt weiter zu und der Auftragseingang 2018 entwickelt sich gut. Ebenfalls zum 31. Dezember 2017 verf\u00fcgen wir \u00fcber 72 Mio. EUR liquide Mittel sowie \u00fcber nicht ausgesch\u00f6pfte Kreditlinien von knapp 21 Mio. EUR. Vor diesem Hintergrund rechnen wir f\u00fcr den Konzern in diesem Jahr mit einer deutlichen Umsatzsteigerung und einem leicht positiven operativen EBIT.\u201c<\/p><p>Gegen\u00fcber dem Jahr 2017 erwartet der Vorstand einen Umsatzanstieg zwischen 10 % und 14 % bei einem leicht positiven EBIT ohne Sondereffekte. Dies entspricht einer operativen Ergebnisverbesserung in der Gr\u00f6\u00dfenordnung von rund 30 Mio. EUR. Eine Umsatzsteigerung wird dabei in allen Segmenten erwartet. Aufgrund weiterhin hoher Aufwendungen in Forschung und Entwicklung zum weiteren Ausbau des Produktportfolios sowie Investitionen in die Marktbearbeitung werden die Segmente Electronics und Energy Storage voraussichtlich erst ab 2019 einen positiven Beitrag zum Konzern-EBIT leisten.
