According to the report, the company significantly increased revenue to 86.1 million euros (previous year 47.6 million euros), the highest first quarter revenue figure in the company&#8217;s history. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) in the 2018 reporting period was -0.9 million euros (previous year: 23.2 million euros) and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) came to -3.0 million euros (previous year: 20.0 million euros). Compared to the previous year&#8217;s values adjusted for profit effects from the operation and sale of NICE Solar Energy GmbH (formerly Manz CIGS Technology GmbH), Manz AG improved, on a comparable operating basis, EBITDA by 8.3 million euros (previous year adjusted: -9.2 million euros) and EBIT by 8.5 million euros (previous year adjusted:<br \/>\n-11.5 million euros).<\/p>\n<p>Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass, CEO of Manz AG, observes: &#8220;In 2018 we are continuing the consistent implementation of our current strategy to increase the company&#8217;s competitiveness and profitability. With the goal of rapidly extending our customer base, we have significantly expanded the percentage of standardized individual machines and modules in the product portfolio in all segments. At the same time, we are working continuously in numerous individual projects to increase profitability through targeted organizational and process improvements, and with the introduction of appropriate tools. Although we still have some work to do, we can see in the achieved revenue and earnings improvements that we are taking the right steps&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In examining the individual segments of Manz AG, the revenue and earnings development in the Solar segment was consistent with project planning for the implementation of CIGS bulk orders. In the Energy Storage and Contract Manufacturing segments, both revenue and earnings improved from their respective values in the previous year. Revenue in the Electronics segment was below the level of the previous year. The first quarter of the previous year was still significantly affected by a large display order. The segment earnings were negative, as expected, although in recent months Manz AG has seen a growing upswing in business activity in the target sectors. Service revenue was stable, and earnings were below the previous year due to a changed product mix.<\/p>\n<p>With the business development figures in the first quarter of 2018, an order intake of 87.6 million euros and a value of orders on hand of 226.4 million euros as of March 30, 2018, the Managing Board considers Manz AG to be on course to meet projected targets for the full year 2018. Demnach konnte die Gesellschaft den Umsatz signifikant auf 86,1 Mio. Euro erh\u00f6hen (Vorjahr: 47,6 Mio. Euro) und erzielte damit das h\u00f6chste Umsatzniveau der Firmengeschichte in einem ersten Quartal. Das Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) im Berichtszeitraum 2018 betrug -0,9 Mio. Euro (Vorjahr: 23,2 Mio. Euro), das Ergebnis vor Zinsen und Steuern (EBIT) belief sich auf -3,0 Mio. Euro (Vorjahr: 20,0 Mio. Euro). Gegen\u00fcber den um ergebniswirksame Effekte aus dem Betrieb und dem Verkauf der NICE Solar Energy GmbH (vormals Manz CIGS Technology GmbH) bereinigten Vorjahreswerten, gelang es der Manz AG auf vergleichbarer operativer Basis das EBITDA um 8,3 Mio. Euro (Vorjahr bereinigt: -9,2 Mio. Euro) und das EBIT um 8,5 Mio. Euro zu verbessen (Vorjahr bereinigt: -11,5 Mio. Euro). Eckhard H\u00f6rner-Marass, Vorstandsvorsitzender der Manz AG, kommentiert: \u201eAuch 2018 setzen wir unsere eingeschlagene Strategie konsequent weiter fort, um die Wettbewerbs- und Renditef\u00e4higkeit des Unternehmens zu steigern. Mit dem Ziel eines raschen Ausbaus unserer Kundenbasis, haben wir in allen Segmenten den Anteil standardisierter Einzelmaschinen und Module am Produktportfolio deutlich ausgebaut. Gleichzeitig arbeiten wir in zahlreichen Einzelprojekten daran, durch gezielte Organisations- und Prozessverbesserungen sowie die Einf\u00fchrung von entsprechenden Werkzeugen, die Profitabilit\u00e4t des Unternehmens kontinuierlich zu steigern. Wenngleich wir noch einige Arbeit vor uns haben, sehen wir mit den erzielten Umsatz- und Ergebnisverbesserungen, dass wir die richtigen Ma\u00dfnahmen ergriffen haben.\u201c Bei Betrachtung der einzelnen Segmente der Manz AG zeigte sich die Umsatz- und Ergebnisentwicklung im Segment Solar entsprechend des planm\u00e4\u00dfigen Projektverlaufs zur Realisierung der CIGS-Gro\u00dfauftr\u00e4ge. In den Segmenten Energy Storage und Contract Manufacturing verbesserten sich sowohl die Ums\u00e4tze als auch die Ergebnisse gegen\u00fcber den jeweiligen Vorjahreswerten. Der Umsatz im Segment Electronics lag unter Vorjahresniveau, wobei das erste Quartal im Vorjahr noch wesentlich durch einen Display-Gro\u00dfauftrag gekennzeichnet war. Erwartungsgem\u00e4\u00df negativ fiel das Segmentergebnis aus, wenngleich die Manz AG in den vergangenen Monaten eine zunehmende Belebung der Gesch\u00e4ftsaktivit\u00e4ten in den Zielbranchen verzeichnen konnte. Stabil entwickelte sich der Serviceumsatz, das Ergebnis lag aufgrund eines ver\u00e4nderten Produktmix unter dem Vorjahr. Mit der Gesch\u00e4ftsentwicklung im ersten Quartal 2018, einem Auftragseingang von 87,6 Mio. EUR und einem Auftragsbestand von 226,4 Mio. Euro per 30. M\u00e4rz 2018 sieht der Vorstand die Manz AG f\u00fcr das Gesamtjahr 2018 im Plan.
