After a partly very mild January, icy temperatures prevailed in Germany and Europe: February and March 2018 were in the firm grip of winter. In Germany, March was on average 4.8 \u00b0C colder than in the previous year, making it one of the three coldest months of March in the last 20 years. Accordingly, the summer tyre business only started this year after the Easter holidays at the beginning of April. Last year, a few spring-like days in March prompted many drivers to convert early to summer tyres.<\/p>\n<p>Industry experts estimate that approx. 20 % fewer replacement car tyres were sold to consumers by the German tyre trade in the first quarter. Against the background of unfavourable weather conditions, the Delticom Group&#8217;s revenues also declined in the first three months of the current fiscal year. Compared to the previous year, Group revenues fell by 12.6 % to \u20ac 110.8 million (Q1 2017: \u20ac 126.8 million). Due to the decline in sales, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the first three months also fell short of Q1 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The transition from winter to summer tyre business typically takes place in the first quarter. The first three months of a year are therefore of comparatively little importance in terms of revenues and profitability for the year as a whole. Moreover, weather-related shifting effects are not uncommon in the tyre trade. The Management expects to catch up with the weather-related decline in Q1 revenues in the remaining weeks up to the end of May.<\/p>\n<p>Outlook<\/p>\n<p>The company confirms its full-year forecast for 2018. Accordingly, the Delticom Group continues to aim for revenues of \u20ac 690 million for the current fiscal year, accompanied by an increase in EBITDA of up to around \u20ac 14 million.<\/p>\n<p>Delticom will report on the progress of its summer tyre business when it publishes its half-year report on August 14, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Company profile:<\/p>\n<p>Delticom AG is an E-Commerce company operating primarily in Europe and the USA. Mai 2018 \u2013 Die Delticom AG (WKN 514680, ISIN DE0005146807, B\u00f6rsenk\u00fcrzel DEX), Europas f\u00fchrender Onlineh\u00e4ndler f\u00fcr Reifen und Autozubeh\u00f6r sowie Spezialist im eFood und Experte auf dem Gebiet effizienter Lagerlogistik, berichtet mit der vorliegenden Zwischenmeldung \u00fcber den Gesch\u00e4ftsverlauf im ersten Quartal 2018.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nAnders als in 2017 sorgten anhaltend kalte Temperaturen im ersten Quartal hierzulande in unserem Kerngesch\u00e4ft f\u00fcr einen verz\u00f6gerten Saisonstart. So setzten sich nach einem teils sehr milden Januar in Deutschland und Europa eisige Temperaturen durch: Februar und M\u00e4rz 2018 befanden sich im festen Griff des Winters. In Deutschland war der M\u00e4rz im Mittel um 4,8 \u00b0C k\u00e4lter als im Vorjahr und geh\u00f6rt damit zu den drei k\u00e4ltesten M\u00e4rz-Monaten der letzten 20 Jahre. Dementsprechend lief das Sommerreifengesch\u00e4ft in diesem Jahr erst nach den Osterfeiertagen Anfang April an. Im vergangenen Jahr hatten einige fr\u00fchlingshafte Tage im M\u00e4rz viele Autofahrer dazu veranlasst, bereits fr\u00fchzeitig auf Sommerreifen umzur\u00fcsten. Branchenkenner sch\u00e4tzen, dass im ersten Quartal ca. 20 % weniger Pkw-Ersatzreifen vom deutschen Reifenhandel an die Verbraucher abgesetzt wurden. Vor dem Hintergrund der Wetterbedingungen verringerte sich auch der Umsatz der Delticom-Gruppe in den ersten drei Monaten des laufenden Gesch\u00e4ftsjahres. Im Vorjahresvergleich fiel der Konzernumsatz um 12,6 % auf 110,8 Mio. \u20ac (Q1 2017: 126,8 Mio. \u20ac). Aufgrund der r\u00fcckl\u00e4ufigen Umsatzentwicklung liegt auch das Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) f\u00fcr die ersten drei Monate hinter dem entsprechenden Vergleichszeitraum 2017 zur\u00fcck. In das erste Quartal f\u00e4llt typischerweise der \u00dcbergang vom Winter- auf das Sommerreifengesch\u00e4ft. Daher kommt den ersten drei Monaten des Jahres hinsichtlich Umsatz und Profitabilit\u00e4t bezogen auf das Gesamtjahr nur eine vergleichsweise geringe Bedeutung zu. Zudem sind wetterbedingte Verschiebungseffekte im Reifenhandel nicht un\u00fcblich. Das\r\nManagement rechnet damit, den wetterbedingt r\u00fcckl\u00e4ufigen Umsatz im ersten Quartal in den verbleibenden Wochen bis Ende Mai aufzuholen.\r\n\r\n<strong>Ausblick<\/strong>\r\nDie Gesellschaft best\u00e4tigt die Gesamtjahresprognose f\u00fcr 2018.
